Wall Maps (2014-2022)

STATEMENT: A focus on walls: the textures, the patterns, what is on them, and where they are. Not just interior walls, but exterior walls that house places where people live or work (or had lived, or had worked). This attention of walls grew out of my other social landscape work where there was an attraction to an underlying feeling of absence, of loneliness, and of discomfort. Wall Maps, quite literally, though has a basis on dictionary definitions: walls as a thing perceived as a protective or restrictive barrier, and maps as a diagram or collection of data showing the spatial arrangement or distribution of something over an area.
